WordsMatter: Labels Discussion

Here is part of the initial prompt for this session...just to jog your memory. Read, comment, and interact!

"At the start of class, you give out the papers and say something like:

 

'Good morning everyone. In your groups, please take these slips of paper and come up with a short play to teach the other students what you have learned about your topic. Please be creative, have fun, and highlight differences between the characters in your play to modern Americans your age.'

 

 The students who are not making audible noises of irritation are holding faces that look as though they have just eaten a lemon dipped in vinegar. There are, of course, two students trying to hold back their grins, barely able to contain their excitement.

 

 You know they have enthusiastically completed lessons similar to this one before. Facilitating the groups is like pulling teeth and the lesson is mostly a flop. Why?"
